The official release of Bitcoin Core 0.14.0 is now available. Documentation for this release is available on the Bitcoin Core project website here. The following are instructions for upgrading Bitseed to Bitcoin Core 0.14.0.
These instructions add an upgrade script to the device. It will delete your old binaries and replace them with the latest binary files built by Bitseed. The script will stop bitcoind and then restart it when done. All blockchain data and settings will remain unchanged.
Use your terminal to ssh into the device (Windows can use PuTTY):
Enter the password printed on bottom of device and/or included with your device documentation to log into the node.
If the version of Bitcoin Core running on your node is 0.12.0 or newer, you only need to enter one command to upgrade your node.
If you’re not sure what version of Bitcoin Core your node is running, enter this command:
./btcinfo.sh – basic status
If the version of Bitcoin Core running on your node is 0.12.0 or newer, you can enter the following command to upgrade your node:
If the version of Bitcoin Core running on your node is older than 0.12.0 then enter the following commands:
sudo apt-get install libevent-dev rm bitcoin-upgrade.sh wget -4 https://bitseed.org/device/latestversion/bitcoin-upgrade.sh
chmod 755 bitcoin-upgrade.sh
The device will reboot and bitcoind will start up automatically. Allow 15 minutes for bitcoind to start before attempting to use Bitcoin or access the Bitseed web interface.
