The official release of Bitcoin Core 0.15.0.1 is now available. Documentation for this release is available on the Bitcoin Core project website here. The following are instructions for upgrading Bitseed to Bitcoin Core 0.15.0.1 from the ARM binary provided on the bitcoin.org website.
These instructions add an upgrade script to the device. It will delete your old binaries and replace them with the latest binary files built by the Bitcoin Core development team. The procedure will stop bitcoind and then restart it when done. All blockchain data and settings will remain unchanged.
Use your terminal to ssh into the device (Windows can use PuTTY):
Enter the password printed on bottom of device and/or included with your device documentation, then enter the following commands:
If your current version is 0.12 or higher, you can run the following to upgrade
Bitcoin will upgrade and restart. Allow 2 hours before the node will become operational.
If your current version is lower than 0.12, you can run the following to upgrade
./btcstop.sh sudo apt-get install libevent-dev wget -4 https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.15.0.1/bitcoin-0.15.0.1-arm-linux-gnueabihf.tar.gz
tar -zxvf bitcoin-0.15.0.1-arm-linux-gnueabihf.tar.gz
Bitcoin 0.15 restructures the local blockchain database, which takes about 2 hours. The node will be offline and will not display the GUI until the database upgrade is complete.
