Welcome to Issue #18 of the Bitseed Broadcast, a newsletter published by the Bitseed team to share important news for Bitcoin full node operators. We cover the latest in Bitcoin development, full node news, community events, and experimental projects that node operators may find of interest. If you have any news tips or insights you’d like us to share in a future edition of the Bitseed Broadcast, send us a message and we’ll credit you if your submission is published. Here’s the latest:
The Bitseed custom shop is open for business!
We recently announced that we are opening up our custom shop to orders from the public, so anyone can now place an order for a custom-designed Bitseed node. Check out the announcement blog post for the details of our custom order process and to see examples of custom nodes we’ve made in the past.
21 CLI and OpenBazaar installation instructions published
This month we published two new tutorials as part of our Bitseed Labs series, one for installing the 21 command line interface (CLI) and another for installing the OpenBazaar server.
The 21 CLI provides Bitseed owners access to a suite of tools developed by 21, including access to the 21 API marketplace and micropayment services. Bitseed owners can use the 21 CLI to earn bitcoin by selling access to APIs hosted on the node through the 21 marketplace.
The OpenBazaar server provides Bitseed owners with an easy way to self-host an ecommerce store on the decentralized OpenBazaar marketplace, providing 24/7 uptime for stores hosted on the node. Bitseed owners can use the OpenBazaar server to earn bitcoin by selling goods and services through the OpenBazaar marketplace.
Visit the Bitseed Labs section of our website to learn how to install these apps on Bitseed.
Segregated Witness merged into Bitcoin Core
The pull request that adds support for Segregated Witness has been merged into Bitcoin Core, bringing the widely anticipated feature one step closer to activation and adoption by the Bitcoin network. To learn more about Segregated Witness, including how this merge affects full node operators, check out the FAQ and “next steps” posts published by the Bitcoin Core team.
Decentralized Web Summit videos now online
Videos of all the presentations and discussion panels from the Decentralized Web Summit have been posted online by the Internet Archive. This was a historic event that brought together architects and luminaries of the existing web and the new decentralized web to discuss the history, current developments, and the future of the decentralized web. Check out the videos, including a presentation by Bitseed co-founder John Light, to learn about the exciting possibilities that are here today or just over the horizon.
