Bitcoin-XT is a patch to bitcoin core created by Mike Hearn and some other leading bitcoin developers. There is discussion that a future version of XT may support larger block sizes, but currently version 0.10.1 does not. According to the Github page:
Bitcoin XT is a patch set on top of Bitcoin Core, with a focus on upgrades to the peer to peer protocol. By running it you can opt in to providing the Bitcoin network with additional services beyond what Bitcoin Core nodes provide. Currently it contains three additional changes:
- Relaying of double spends.
- Support for querying the UTXO set given an outpoint.
- DNS seed changes: bitseed.xf2.org is removed
Please note that Bitcoin XT does not currently change anything about block size limits, although a future version might.
We plan on making bitcoin-xt available as an option for Bitseed V2, assuming it is stable and functional at time of shipping.
We have tested bitcoin-xt on Bitseed V1 and it appears to be stable. For those who wish to experiment with bitcoin-xt, we have provided binaries for Bitseed V1 below.
Install bitcoin-xt 0.10.1
Shutdown bitcoind and get the new binaries
remove or move the following files from the /home/linaro
unzip the downloaded file and place the 4 files in /home/linaro
cp /home/linaro/0.10.1-bitcoin-xt/bitcoin* /home/linaro
Bitcoind should run as normal, except the version number will show as 100100
